Worry
Most of the things that I use to worry about never happened. As a young person, I worried about everything, but the things I worried about never happened. As I matured, I learned that there was very little value in worrying since I can only make the best decision that I can using the information I have at the time. Changing my mindset has been my key!
Honesty
I can’t hide a piece of broccoli in a glass of milk. When I make mistakes, I have learned that accepting responsibility for my actions is so much better than not owning up to the truth. Not only is it the right thing to do, it also helps me feel good about being honest.
Commitment
Successful living is like playing violin. Hard work. Consistency. Persistence. On a daily basis, I have learned to practice and be committed to the skills and actions that will help support me in reaching my goals.
Love
Regardless of age, race, gender, or sexual orientation, we all need love. I have learned that
there is so much beauty in diversity and that no matter our differences, the one thing that I have in common with humankind is the ability to offer love.
First Impressions
In every face-to-face encounter, I leave something behind … my impression
Regardless of how brief, I have learned that I will never get a second chance to make a first impression.
Optimism
Recent studies show that optimists are likely to live longer than pessimists. I have learned that having a positive attitude and outlook on life not only impacts how I act but it also impacts my mind, body, and soul. So, my motto is “let optimism rule!”
Forgiving and Forgetting
When someone hurts my feelings, I have learned that its unimportant unless I persist in remembering it. I try my best to not get so caught up with what others think about me or even with how they may have hurt my feelings … although it’s not always easy, I choose to let it go.
Learning from Others
Everyone has something to teach. I have learned so much what to do and what not to do from the people that have crossed my path. My biggest life lessons, the great and not so great, have come from my past experiences.
Growing
I grow when I push myself beyond what I already know. When I truly desire to reach a goal, I have learned that my first step is to believe that I can achieve it and my second step is to push myself to learn by putting in the necessary work.
Aiming High
There is no elevator or fast track to success. I have learned that success is a stairway
that includes a collection of hard work coupled with timing and opportunities.
